In 2010, The U.S. EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) Awarded Republic Services, Inc., UFR Corporation, Newton County, Indiana and The Hunter Group with the Project of the Year Award for the Newton County LFGTE project. In 2009 The Hunter Group began project management, development and design/build contracting for a new renewable natural gas plant for private owners of the largest landfill in Louisiana. That plant came online in 2010 and today has grown to be the 3th largest RNG production facility in the country.
The Hunter Group has been afforded numerous opportunities to work for clients both domestically and internationally on all types of technologies and projects. In 2008 The Hunter Group was instrumental in supporting legislation for renewable fuels prior to the RFS program. Other notable accomplishments included pipeline safety standards under PHMSA that were changed in Tennessee to meet the standards for renewable natural gas with a public utilities and new tariff standards adopted under FERC for Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) in Georgia.
The Hunter Group has extensive background in developing and consulting in environmental waste systems for energy production for the past 20 years. That experience and background lead to numerous opportunities for the principal, Mr. Mauney to present before such groups as: The Solid Waste Association – SWANA, U.S. EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program LMOP, Keynote Address in 2011 and Biogas West Conference in California in 2012. Other numerous speaking engagements have been presented over the past 16 years in the United States, Mexico and South America.
Today, The Hunter Group continues to consult and direct business growth for a host of public / private companies and private equities. The Hunter Group also consults and markets the 3rd largest share of renewable natural gas production in the country under the US EPA Renewable Fuel Standard Program and the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) for the vehicle fuel market in California.
The Hunter Group developed Tennessee Renewable Group, LLC which it reconstructed in 2018. TRG is a renewable natural gas hybrid production facility located in Kingsport, TN that produces both RNG into the US EPA RFS program and renewable electricity into a long-term power purchase agreement with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
The Hunter Group developed a Renewable Natural Gas attribute trading group in 2015 that has grown to become a leading supplier of renewable natural gas and environmental attributes.
